Million Dollar Mail Order Strategies

$ Follow these simple, proven tips to make a LOT more money in direct mail! $

Tip #1: Join the right money-making business! Make sure that it is product based with excellent quality and value. Make sure the product has mass market appeal. It is best to join a business or program that is in the $50 to $150 price range to assure a higher response rate. If it is super low cost you might get more people to join but it will take thousands of people to make any real money … if it is too expensive then very few people will join from a mailed promotion and so people give up due to lack of response.

Tip #2: Make sure the company is designed for long-term success. You want a business that you can build over time … two to three years is a good commitment for you to make. If your program fails within the first year or two (as most do) then you have to start over from scratch! When you have a long term professional company with a track record of success then you have a business that is in the top 2% of all money making programs being promoted! Residual income is what you want and that is only possible with a solid, long term business.

Ti p #3: Obtain the best quality mailing list. Your list is the most imgortant part of your mailing. You can compare your response rates from each list to find the best quality lists. Always save the “nixies” (returns) and send them back to the company for cash or whatever their guarantee is. Tip #4: Mail only ONE offer in an envelope. Multiple offers confuse people and will reduce your response. The only exception to this rule is if your second offer is a simple, low cost program that is designed to help all direct mailers. If you include a second offer, introduce it in a “PS” on your cover letter. Use something like this:

“PS- I am also enclosing info on a super high-response mailing list from DME … their mailingnames are some of the best I’ve ever used and their program helps you earn an additional cash flow so you can grow multiple streams of income.”

Tip #5: AL WAYS use a well written cover letter with a “PS.” A cover letter creates interest. It must be clean, professional and exciting! Be sure to include your phone number in your cover letter. Answer your phone when possible and return all phone calls. Your best new customers/distributors often have a couple of questions or just want some reassurance that they can make money. Also, you can include a special offer that has an “expiration date” to encourage a fast response. FYI: opportunity post cards bring about half as much response as a professional letter for the same opportunity, but they are also cheaper and easier to mail.

Tip #6: Make your mailing stand out. Many people that you mail to are receiving several offers per week or several per day and you want your letter to get their attention! Use large, colorful postage stamps, and brand new designs if available. Your local post office has a good selection. Also, be sure to apply both the stamp and the address label straight and neat! Crooked stamps or labels look sloppy. First impressions are important. To increase your response rate by 20% to 40% you can hand address each envelope. This is extra work but it virtually assures that your offer will get opened and read.

Tip #7: Know how to use “Reverse Mail.” When you receive a money-making offer in the mail, you can mail that person your offer, but there are a few important tips to get maximum response: 1) hand address the envelope, 2) include a brief personal hand written note, 3) include an example of how well the program is working for you (copies of commissions, a note with specific details of your earnings, etc.), and 4) wait one month, then mail it to them. Your response rate from reverse mailing will be much higher this way.

Tip #8: Don’t give up! To achieve real success and reach your goals you must be consistent in your mailing (mail 500+ per month) and you must be TOTALLY committed for the long run (at least 12 months). To give yourself a boost, do a mailing of 2,000+ letters when you first join a new business.

Tip #9: Know when to mail! Mail your letters on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Do not mail on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Also, there are certain times of the year that you should never mail. Never mail between December 10th and 24th, never mail within one week of Thanksgiving, Easter, Memorial Day or Labor Day. You can mail ON the actual day of the holiday, just not the week prior. Dec. 25 – 31 is OK.
