100% scam.

There is no job and no legit company called that name.

Any phone number that starts with +44-70 or anything similar is not based in the United Kingdom. It is from a UK based cell phone redirect service that can be answered by anyone anywhere in the world. It is a favorite service of scammers who want to pretend to be in the United Kingdom but are really half way around the world from there.

There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.

The next email will be from another of the scammer’s fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the “government visa official” or “travel agent” and will demand you pay, in cash, via Western Union or moneygram.

Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever.

Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

If you google “fraud visa job scam”, “fake UK hotel job Western Union scam” or something similar, you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.

Why won’t they re hire me again? Where can i get help with this situation?

I left my job as an ED as a CNA in August of 08 to relocate out of state to get married. Unfortunatly the ression hit and I have been unemployed since. I gave a 6 week notice and left on good terms. I chose not to fill out an exit interview.

Since the economy is so bad i have not located a job since. I moved back to my state and sought out my old job. I was interviewed for it and then told another applicant was hired. No problem, i waited for another opportunity and was again turned down. I contacted HR and asked why I was not considered for the second time and she gave me a vague answer which stated” You were not chosen for the postion”.

Long story short, since I left this postion it has had a high turn over rate, I held it the longest, nights 7pm to 7am. Again I applied at 11am two days ago, and was turned down within an hour! I am still friends with others who work in this ER and they are DESPERATE for help, as I am still a patinet of this hospital and this is where I got to get my care so I have seen and heard first hand ho bad it is.

I believe that yes, my long absences of employment might be the cause of concern but I was honest about the ression, and the fact that I did not work b/c my fiancee was in the military so I held down the home.

I have contacted HR inquiring about my reasons for not being hired when the postion has been open for 12 weeks now and I have been turned down 27 times! I am not trying to but then but I need a real reason as to why they will not hire me. Two weeks ago I sent an e-mail asking for a direct reason, i followed up with a call Monday and no answer yet! At this point it is on the computer and I am not longer be allowed to apply for the postion.

Having worked there I am familiar with how things work so I know I am being ignored at this point. My workl hx is excellent, my attendance might have been a problem to them as I know they report this when I am looking for other jobs, but as a single parent w kids, things happen, but my attendance was not bad that I had to be written up or in danger of losing my job.

I would like to know where I can get some kind of help figuring out why I am not hired and a direct reason, or constructive critisim. i I have been unemployed almost two years, my unemployment is going to run out soon (as I am collecting unemployment from them). I loved my job, why am I not being given a chance when no one else wants it. I,would like to file a complaint about this, where can I get info. This has really nothing to do with race (i hope, as i am african-american, and female) but it really does not meet any of the requirements of EEOC.
This is a small town with only two hospitals, i am locked in a lease until next year and being unemployed so long has left me with the lack the resources to move to locate work in other areas.

Tom & Susan answers:

Relax and move on. They do not have to give you any reason. With that type of over-entitled attitude, no wonder you’ve been out of work so long. Take a long hard look at yourself and I hope you can then land a good job.

If someone can direct me to another solution, that would be great and you would make several staff members very happy. And yes they go through a proxy but the proxy is set to alow all java updates through. Also I myself have run the update to java from the java.com.
Is there something else to look at? At least get the yahoo back to normal!?!?

Husband has orders to move for military, ex husband is contesting moving child, what are my rights?

I married right after high school, which was a mistake. But we produced the worlds most wonderful little girl. She is now 7. We have long been divorced, and we are both remarried. My husband is a soldier with the United States Army. When he returned from deployment last year, we knew we would eventually PCS to another state. This has been the understanding with my ex as well. When we went to court last year, he asked for lowered child support, and I asked for uncontested permission to move her to another state with Military Orders should they arrive. Now that we have rumors of being moved, I let him know, although we don’t have a specific time or place yet, that it might be soon. He acted annoyed, but went along w it, and asked for details when we got them. I agreed to get the info to him ASAP. We know it will be sometime this summer. But he went behind my back, and a letter from an attorney I never knew he had, requesting the court stop me from moving her. The state of Indiana requires a 90day notice when possible, but with the military, that’s nearly impossible. I am having a hard time finding my rights online. And have yet to secure a new lawyer of my own (this just came to me in the mail yesterday evening)…. My question is, aren’t there rules in place to protect Military Families? Does the court order from last year stating we can move her w/o having to give 90 days notice count for anything? It doesn’t seem fair that he agreed to a judge last year, and is now giving me problems when he KNOWS it will be less than 90 days notice. Its now June, and we know it will be July or August at the latest. Am i going to have to stay behind for 3 months, and my husband move w/o me?? we cannot afford to run 2 households…we are already slim on our budget, and I can’t imagine us living apart again after that last deployment.

Some info:

I have full custody in the state of Indiana, he has reasonable visitation (being every other weekend, and one mid-week visitation -which he hasn’t been executing-, and all holidays etc per Indiana State Guidelines)

Also in the court order, he requested Child support (which i know has no reference w visitation, at least in our state) be lowered to the state minimum, and told the judge he was unemployed, which was false. He CHANGED jobs, but he already had a new FT job at the time of the hearing. He was required to inform me in writing when he received a FT job so that we may return to court and have the child support arranged at its original amount, which he never did. It has now been 1yr 4mos since that order.

He has also turned down his option for extended parenting time, which states he can get her for 1/2 the summer, bc he said he’s “never done it before, not going to start now”….

I’m not sure what his gain would be demanding we wait 90days to move, considering this has been a possibility for at least 2 years now, and we’ve always talked to him openly about our options, and rumors that we hear of new military opportunities.

Any help would be appreciated! I have to wait a few hours more before I can start contacting some representation during business hours!!!
Considering the last answer i got to the question, i guess i should add some information.

I have sole custody of her. he only gets visitation and skips most of it. he was offered half of the summer, and stated he didn’t want it bc he refused to get child care, from family, or a professional (and my parents who live near him offered to watch her during the day for free) so he could go to work.

he can’t contest the move itself, but he can request 90days notice, which would just break our family apart for 3 months. he signed off on us moving her out of state a year ago. 4 lawyers, 1 mediator, and JAG have been spoken to since this question was posted, and all stated this case was laughable. he still gets visitation if we move, during her breaks, which again, he signed off on, when my husband arrived home from his deployment. he will get the same amount of time whether she is in this state or in a state with us.

theres not a judge in the world that would grant him custody. i

By “package” they mean salary + benefits, not just your pay. Benefits have value, and provide you with negotiating room on your new salary. You have to be honest, because they can and probably will verify the information (all they have to do is ask to see a copy of an old pay stub). So you would reply by saying something like: “I am currently compensated at $XX,XXX.00, with comprehensive health, dental and life insurance with gym access, flexible scheduling options, and 20 days vacation, including 2 personal days, and a parking spot. I am seeking to increases financial compensation by XX percent to bring my salary more in line with my experience and value.”

100% scam.

There is no job.

There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.

The next email will be from another of the scammer’s fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the “secretary/assistant/accountant” and will demand you cash a large fake check sent on a stolen UPS/FedEx billing account number and send most of the “money” via Western Union or moneygram back to the scammer posing as the “supply company” while you “keep” a small portion. When your bank realizes the check is fake and it bounces, you get the real life job of paying back the bank for the bounced check fees and all the bank’s money you sent to an overseas criminal.

Or the next email will demand you accept a fake bank deposit. The deposit will be from a stolen credit card, hi-jacked paypal account or phished bank account. You are then suppose to withdrawal the money before your bank realizes the transfer was made with stolen money. You are suppose to send the “money” via Western Union or moneygram back to the scammer posing as the “supply company” while you “keep” a small portion. When the credit card/paypal/bank account owner realizes their money is in your account, your bank reverses the transfer now you get the real life job of paying back the bank for all the bank’s money you sent to an overseas criminal.

When you refuse to send him your cash he will send increasingly nasty and rude emails trying to convince you to go through with his scam. The scammer could also create another fake name and email address like “FBI@ gmail.com”, “police_person @hotmail.com” or “investigator @yahoo.com” and send emails telling you the job is legit and you must cash the fake check and send your money to the scammer or you will face legal action. Just ignore, delete and block those email addresses. Although, reading a scammer’s attempt at impersonating a law enforcement offical can be extremely funny.

Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his ‘potential sucker’ list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.

You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.

Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don’t bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn’t worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.

6 “Rules to follow” to avoid most fake jobs:
1) Job asks you to use your personal bank account and/or open a new one.
2) Job asks you to print/mail/cash a check or money order.
3) Job asks you to use Western Union or moneygram in any capacity.
4) Job asks you to accept packages and re-ship them on to anyone.
5) Job asks you to pay visas, travel fees via Western Union or moneygram.
6) Job asks you to sign up for a credit reporting or identity verification site.

Avoiding all jobs that mention any of the above listed ‘red flags’ and you will miss nearly all fake jobs. Only scammers ask you to do any of the above. No. Exceptions. Ever. For any reason.

If you google “fake check cashing job”, “fraud Western Union scam”, “money mule moneygram scam” or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.

Using direct mail postcards what’s a good rule to use in determining how many to send out?

Direct mail postcards are my main avenue of promoting a course I teach. My goal is about 30-45 students per class. How many postcards should I send out in order to reach my goal?

Tom & Susan answers:

Well put, Kevin. But I’d like to encourage you, Teacher, to think of marketing your class online in addition to or instead of through direct mail. Postcards involve printing costs and postage. And if you’re marketing by email, you can bring those costs to almost zero. If you use your own email program and spruce it up with some color and graphics (not too fancy since you want people to be able to read it on a mobile device as well as on their computer), you can reach an unlimited number of people for free.

I’ve taught a writing class for nearly 10 years and have done all of marketing for that class through an email newsletter. At first, I used my own email as I’ve just described. But once my mailing list went over a few hundred people, it was easier to use a newsletter service since I wanted to send several mailings out per year and I wanted to manage the list in ways I couldn’t do through email.

For a small monthly fee (ranging from about $15-$60 depending on the kinds of bells and whistles you add and how many mailings you send), you can reach thousands of people just by hitting the send button. Online newsletters offer a slew of other benefits — the biggest being information about your recipients. The moment you send out your newsletter, you can start tracking who has opened it and which links they’ve clicked on. If this interests you, check out ConstantContact.com or MyEmma.com, two good online newsletter providers.

What is the Best Day To Send Out Direct Mail Pieces?

Can you tell me what is the best day of the week to send out direct mail pieces related to the food business. Do first class stamped envelopes get a better response rate? Should I put a return address on the envelope. Should I include a “teaser” on the envelope such as “Free Coupons or Free Gift Certificate Inside”. Thank you!

Tom & Susan answers:

There is no single answer for everyone. The only way to get answers to your questions is by testing. You need to test mailing first class vs. Standard class. You can also test a blind envelope (return address only) vs. Teaser vs. Very promotional. And if you’re mailing first class, I believe its mandatory to include a return address, but you should include it anyway since it adds credibility to your mailing.

Regarding the best day to mail, I don’t believe there is a difference because you can’t really control the delivery date once your mailing is in the hands of the post office. Rather, you’ll want to avoid mailing right before holidays and possibly during summer months, as people are on vacation.

Are you aware of any research that measures the combined effect of direct mail and email marketing a business?

I’m looking for existing research that’s available, not how to conduct my own.

Tom & Susan answers:

You have to set it up so a holdout cell of records gets only direct mail. The quantity depends on your overall universe. The other test cells obviously have both direct mail and email. You can then measure the impact in response rates by looking at a cost per lead or other cost-per metric. You need to do it with costs because obviously it’s more money to do both direct mail and email.

Tom & Susan answers:

There are many good marketing services out there, but they are all expensive.

If you are on a budget and do not mind rolling up your sleeves, then doing it yourself with something like MS Word or Publisher is the way to go.

Do post card size for cheaper postage.. Or do your own flyer’s. You can hire temp workers to pass them out. This should cut your cost in half.

You will need good images though. Use some High Impact Graphics like the ad agencies use:

Where can I find a physical mailing address without the usage of a P.O. Box or Privatebox ?

Hello,

I would like to make a brief introduction about myself. I am the lead singer/vocalist in a rock/pop band, The Embezzles, (name have been changed quite a few times within the past few months)and we’re very similar to Paramore and Linkin Park. We’re sort of a big deal in East Texas with an increasing fan base which continues to grow expendably great but we have a big problem communicating and contacting fans. We’ve tried everything from Post Office boxes, Private Mailboxes and social networking sties. Unfortunately, the Postal Services are on shaky ground. Postal Services have rules and regulations to combat mail fraud and other crimes committed using postal and private mailboxes which sounds convincing but the postal services are on the wrong side here.

Rather than protecting privacy they are seeking to invade it and rather than allowing some consumer choice they are looking to stifle what little competition exists. Unfortunately, scam artists also utilize the convenience of private mailboxes to hide illegal activities, such as credit card fraud, identity theft and schemes to swindle the elderly. In other words or simple terms, P.O. boxes and Private Mailboxes are growing concerns of the postal services used in order to single out P.O. boxes and PMB(private mailboxes) who have personal accounts instead of business accounts.

We would like to have an address rather than using one of our own physical home address because you guys are aware of fans(groupies) can be a bit psychotic at times when bands are in the limelight destined for stardom. Instead of selling merchandise, passing out flyers, etc. from our tour van/hotel (lol) J, we decided that we want to be able to reach fans outside of our 100 mile radius giving fans the opportunity to write personal letters to one our band members, pics or whatever the fans want to give their favorite band (The Embezzles ) <<<<>>>>,in order to converse on numerous occasions, but we do not want to give the government or postal office or any carrier service speculations or any misleading ideas that we are subjecting to a scheme to earn money or somehow get personal information from individuals. All we want is to build a connection with our fans in order to solidify our relationships to remind them of upcoming tour dates, nearby performances, or any updates we might have in order to refresh the memories of our fans.

We were recommended on some international mail forwarding service sites but getting an international P.O. or Private box seems a little suspect, wouldn’t you agree? Although they offer great services they only require your personal information….sometimes to much information. I have scavenged many postal services sites and some websites seem a bit puzzling. Even though they have U.S. Postal Forms and identification requirements they false advertise and some sites even have numerous complaints from previous customers. If I were to come across one of these misleading websites how would I be able to recognize a true and faithful postal or forwarding service from any other website posing as a legit mail forwarding service? Are there any services that allows you to apply online if so this would be my first option to cut out the hassle and run around the postal services have been giving us.

Thanks for your all your time and help.

NOBODY is going to require you to apply for a card – employers pay you through direct deposit through your bank account. She invited me to come by and drop off my resume and picture this upcoming monday. Problem is since I have no acting experience be how do I put together a resume as well as a picture. She wants me to meet her personally so I can sit it on a “reading” and learn some things about the theatre. What does this mean? It sounds like she is very interested in meeting me and may possibly offer me some acting opportunities? Is this all bad? I’m soo very nervous and afraid of what might happen.
Which do you prefer: Internet marketing or Direct Mail marketing?

For example, would you rather get an email offering you a product, or an offer from the US Postal Service? It seems today there are so many more options on the internet to shop, it might be wiser to go ahead and open the email ad-types, as long as they DO NOT have attachments…all of us know to watch out for strange emails with attachments…they could have viruses. I am trying out my own internet business and could use feedback regarding newsletters, for instance about my site called: Special Home Products.
Do me a big favor in the meantime, and check it out…any suggestions or comments on it would be appreciated!
OK, like the responses I am getting, but still unsure which would be the best to use to promote a new business….let me hear from some more of you out there!

Tom & Susan answers:

Both internet marketing and direct mail marketing are good strategies depending on the company/product/service you are promoting. It is also faulty to think you have to choose one or the other. Most successful marketing campaigns use multiple media in a coordinated strategy in order to maximize reach and frequency. For example, you may have a website that has a lot of details about your company, order forms, etc. A postcard mailer letting a targeted audience know about the website and potentially a special offer, will help to boost traffic to your site. Likewise, you could use an e-mail campaign to get people to sign up to get a catalogue of your products. The interenet is attractive because your business is an internet-based business. However, many potential customers will never find you on the internet if you don’t tell them via some non-internet means (direct mail, radio, print ads, etc.) I hope this helps! Good luck!

How do funeral homes market their services?

I’m a writer and I’d like to target funeral homes for my writing services, but I’m unclear as to their marketing efforts. According to what I know the client based accounts save the info your computer as well as in your servers? Why not just go to the on line accounts directly?

100% scam.

There is no job.

There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.

The next email will be from another of the scammer’s fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the “NHS” and will demand you pay for the “medical exam fee & British Embassy Coaching fee”, in cash, via Western Union or moneygram or by bank transfer.

Your bank can only get your money back if there is money left in the scammer’s bank account. Scammers know this and will immediately withdrawal the money you transferred. No money in the account means absolutely no possibility of you getting your hard-earned cash back.

If you google “fraud hotel hospital job scam”, “scam fake job Western Union” or something similar, you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.

I need help on an English assignment: writing a cover letter for a resume.?

The assignment is to write a cover letter for a resume (which I do not have), as if we were trying to get a job. It is supposed to be 750 words for this assignment, and though I’ve written a lot I KNOW I can do much more. But first, I need some help and some advice.

Here is what I’ve written so far:

“Dr. Dottie Critchlow
Principal
Hickman Elementary
112 Stewart’s Ferry Pike
Nashville, TN 37214

April 28, 2010

Dear Dr. Critchlow,

For much of my life, I loved school. I enjoyed being in an environment where I could learn from those gifted masters of education, those under-appreciated workers we call teachers. For this reason, I have chosen to apply for the open 3rd-grade teacher position here at School. At your convenience, I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss the possibility of me getting the position.

Why do I want to be a teacher? As previously stated, I loved school when I was younger. Though it was not always fun, it was always interesting. Over time, though, school became less and less so. By the time I was in college, I had almost lost interest completely, and the constant moving and transfering did not help any. However, two factors helped me regain interest. One factor was my younger siblings, who by showing me how much they enjoyed school made me realize school could still be interesting and fun. The second aspect was a random event at Incredible Pizza, one of my former employers. I was working the bumper-cars ride, and an autistic kid came to ride it. I could have let his parents and family help him, but for some reason I was drawn not to just help him, but to go completely through the motions to teach him about bumper-cars and how to drive them. The family later thanked me, and though the event was just a small incident it inspired me to consider teaching as a possible occupation.

I recently receieved my Associates Degree from the University of Vanderbilt in English, and a minor in General Education. In preparation for this job, I have also taken on an internship at

In my school days, I was faced with several experiences that made me want to help others. And for as long as I can remember, I wanted to be able to help people, and teaching kids. I could be one of their many guides who could direct them towards success in life.

If there’s one aspect of myseIf believe that makes up who I am, it’s the fact that I have always tried to help people. I could be completely helpless or unable to help them, or I might never have met that person in my life. It did not matter because I would feel a longing to help them.

Patience is an attribute that I can proudly admit to learning over the years, from not just having younger siblings in my life but also from working at a Chuck E. Cheese-styled entertainment center. After working in an environment that involved kids running around, often without the supervision of parents, I believe I am ready for the classroom.

I have been told that I am a quick learner, and that is a good thing. Teaching is not the only thing I plan to do; I also plan to learn, whether it be from the students themselves, from my fellow teachers, andor even just more about the subjects I would teach. Things change everyday, and by continuing to learn I could always be prepared to help my students.

I am also a good listener with a solid work ethic, a desire to excel, and am able to meet any deadlines required. I enjoy the pacing that school teachers’ jobs have.

If at all possible I would love to find out more about the position, and I would welcome the opportunity to tell you how I can benefit Hickman Elementary. Feel free to contact me; I can be reached at (662) 629-0079 or by e-mail at ryanson209@yahoo.com.

Attached to this letter is my resume. I will call back in two weeks for my follow up. Hoping to hear from you soon!

Yes, this is a scam.

It`s an ‘advance fee fraud’ – you get a (bogus) check, go to the bank – and then pay the 90%.
Then, after a few weeks, the check proves false, and your in debt to the bank for that 90%.

Also, most european countries do not use checks anymore.
Debit cards, credit cards or bank transfers (internet banking) are very much in use here.
Money transfer delays? The electronic banking takes up to a whopping 10 minutes to transfer – can`t get much faster than that.

Advice: delete, and never, ever reply to this.

First of all, I know it’s rough out there. Being out of work sucks and it’s never easy for anyone to get back on their feet.

Don’t blame your resume – it looks pretty good. There’s a lot of competition out there, from people with just as much education and experience as you. If you’re not getting the calls, it’s only because of the 800 resumes that were received, they went through the first 200 that arrived and short listed from there.

Don’t give up, k? Keep trying.

Now….a few little things on the resume you might want to look at.

I personally don’t like objective statements because it’s pretty obvious that you want a job….and being very specific about the position you want, can cut you from getting a job with decent pay to keep you alive until the ultimate comes along. Just me….go with your gut on this one. On most of the ones I receive, they have a Summary of Qualifications…..that is basically a statement about what their work history is like…” An excellent clerical worker skilled in web site design , data base management, and accounting. Versatile and adept with a number of computer applications…..” the only suggestion I can give for your current wording on the objective, is to have the environment be CREATIVE rather than friendly, and make sure it’s a complete sentence. “…a company that offers A CREATIVE environment….”

You were with one company from 2007 – 2008, then you switched in 2008 to another? This is a case where having the exact months of your tenure listed for all jobs, and including a small notation in your duties about why you are no longer there if the job was short-lived. Do this only if the reason was beyond your control – a closure, bankruptcy, a lay off, etc. It can help to assure a prospective employer that you are not a job hopper…and gives them reason to put you in their short list. You are available, and more important, thorough. You aren’t making them guess why.

I didn’t get into the grammar of your resume that much….I was more interested in the flow and ‘sore thumbs’ that employers look at.

Now….keep your chin up and don’t give let the situation get to you!

Web Design Initial Advertising and Marketing Material Help. Please experienced person only….?

Hi

We’re a new web design company and we’re on a very tight budget. We can only afford $2000 for initial marketing material and advertising. Here are some of our ideas. Could you please help with your experience which methods works and which methods doesn’t? And how should we allocate the $2000 that we have? Please bring new ideas if you have other method that works!

As a web design company, more than other marketing campaigns, the best way to get new clients is to have an impressive portfolio to show them. Perhaps you can work for a discounted fee or even pro bono for some friends or close associates, just to have a portfolio of work to show.

What I see lacking in your list are press releases. Press releases have different uses: they can alert traditional media of your new business (and hopefully get talked about by the media — which means you have to have a new spin or how different are you from the other web design firms). Press releases are also among the EASIEST way to get one way inbound links, and thereby helping you rank in the search engines. PRWeb http://www.prweb.com can send your release and get it through Yahoo and Google News for minimum of $80

The calendar, bumper stickers, laptop bags — I’m not sure those are the most effective means of getting clients to your business especially considering that you have a tight budget.

One important marketing tool you are forgetting is networking. Networking allows you to meet people, other business people who may be interested to rework their websites or create websites. Join organizations and business associations in your area — and budget for membership fees, if any. Talk about your business to them, and they may even refer you to other people who needs your services. Consider joining BNI http://www.bni.com/ (Business Network Int’l.) which is a “business and professional networking organization that offers members the opportunity to share ideas, contacts and most importantly, referrals.” Chambers of commerce can also be a good source of referrals.

I would focus more on local marketing, but carefully carefully track your ROI. Yahoo Yellow pages is pricey – so check if it is actually bringing you traffic and customers.

Email marketing where you purchase an email for $0.25 cents is not a good idea. You will basically be spamming people, buying email lists yet these people may not have agreed or wanted to receive YOUR email. Be careful in using this approach as the last thing you want your business to be called is a spammer.

I know that you are just starting, but web designers often find greater success if they offer services beyond web designing. Diversify your services to include copywriting, search engine optimization, handling pay per clicks, or even just site maintenance.

I recieved this e-mail today and had to share, plz let me know what you think?

Baked Beans – very very funny

One day I met a sweet gentleman and fell in love. When it became
apparent that we would marry, I made the supreme sacrifice and gave up
beans.
Some months later, on my birthday, my car broke down on the way home
from work. Since I lived in the countryside I called my husband and told
him
that I would be late because I had to walk home. On my way, I passed by a
small diner and the odor of baked beans was more than I could stand.

With miles to walk, I figured that I would walk
off any ill effects by the time I reached home, so I stopped at
the diner and before I knew it, I had consumed three large orders of
baked beans.

All the way home, I made sure that I released all the gas. Upon
my arrival, my husband seemed excited to see me and exclaimed
delightedly:”Darling I have a surprise for dinner tonight.”

He then blindfolded me and led me to my chair at the dinner table.
I took a seat and just as he was about to remove my blindfold, the
telephone rang. He made me promise not to touch the blindfold until he
returned and went to answer the call.

The baked beans I had consumed were still affecting me and the
pressure was becoming most unbearable, so while my husband was out of
the room I seized the opportunity, shifted my weight to one leg and let
one
go.

It was not only loud, but it smelled like a fertilizer truck running
over a skunk in front of a pulpwood mill. I took my napkin from my lap and
fanned the air around me vigorously. Then, shifting to the other cheek, I
ripped off three more.

The stink was worse than cooked cabbage. Keeping my ears carefully
tuned
to the conversation in the other room, I went on like this for another few
minutes.

The pleasure was indescribable. When eventually the telephone
farewells signaled the end of my freedom, I quickly fanned the air a
few
more times with my napkin, placed it on my lap and folded my hands back on
it feeling very relieved and pleased with myself.

My face must have been the picture of innocence when my husband
returned, apologizing for taking so long. He asked me if I had
peeked through the blindfold, and I assured him I had not. At this
point, he removed the blindfold, and twelve dinner guests seated around
the
table chorused:

     “Happy Birthday!”

When someone responds to a restraining order, do they need to send the judge and the petitioner the same docs?

The respondent mailed me her response, but I noticed something to the judge about “please see the attached witness statement.” So this means that the judge received a witness statement as part of the response, but I did not. Am I entitled to receive that witness statement before the court hearing? Is it considered part of the response? I have requested it, but she has not sent it. Am I entitled to request a continuance if I have not received this part of the response by my court date?

This is pretty important, because the girl I’m filing against has told me about previous times when she has lied to the court (I actually have proof of this…thank god).
Anything filed with the court must also be provided to the other party.

Don’t bother requesting it from her. What you should do is to object to its admissibility on the day of your hearing. No. You do not request a continuance. You simply request that the evidence/information be excluded based on the fact that the respondent failed to provide you with a copy.

You can also go to the courthouse and ask to view the court file. But you should STILL object to the statement on the grounds I described above.

Promotion, Marketing & Socializing is a big part of a musicians success but what about fans with no internet?

Marketing Experts: How do You Convert Your Direct Mail Recipients to Email?

I run a nonprofit and our main marketing asset is a direct mail list of 50,000 names – but all physical addresses. Are there best practices for getting your list off of the very expensive and time consuming direct mailings and onto email? Thanks for any suggestions.

Tom & Susan answers:

I suspect you would want to mail out an invitation to a sign up at a web site. Email is somewhat more tightly regulated than postal mail, some measures are required to remain legal and to not get blacklisted by email postmasters.

To conform to the U.S. Can-spam regulations you generally have to ask people to opt-in to your mailing list, for best deliverability rates and for help conforming to regulations one can employ an email list management services like Aweber.com, they actually prefer a “double op-in” in which users first sign up on a web site then verify their registration in an email reply. Aweber provides the email submission form that you install on your site that communicates directly with their site.

Marketers who live off email lists will often setup opt-in capture pages offering some sort of incentive like a small free ebook to get them to sign up.

You could throw in an opt-in form in the easy to type-in home page address of your existing site (rather in some lengthy inner page address they would have to transcribe off a postcard), or for better conversion from a mailed out invitation by having a short easy to type in domain name for a page optimized for maximum conversion.

Aweber is the biggest of the ‘autoresponder’ mail services designed to mail out a pre-programmed email message sequence starting day one as each user opts in, there are others like ConstantContact geared more for email blasts to the entire list at once.

I want off of Direct Mailing lists in Canada. Anyone know a website? I?

I want off of a direct mailing list because the name and address are wrong. Anyone know an email, web site or number I can call in Canada to get this taken care of?

Tom & Susan answers:

The Canadian Marketing Association (CMA) has a do not contact that you can get on. Most of the ad mail you get will be from their members who will use this list to remove you from their mailings. This is the best route to go since the piece of mail is then never sent.

You can also leave a note on the inside lip of your mailbox letting the Canadian Post know that you no longer wish to receive advertising mail. They will then filter out what they deem to be advertising. This is not as good since the mail is still being sent out, just not put in your mailbox.

If you are only having problems with one or two companies then I would contact them directly and they will remove you from their list. Sometimes they are renting your name from another company and if you can find that company and get off of their list that could solve a lot of your problems as well.

I hope this helps.
